I guarantee I’m not alone when I sit and say what the fuck am I doing with my life? Yes, yes I am still alive. What with Masters Degree commitments (who knew there was such a thing) my only free time has been spent consuming as much beer as possible to ignore said commitments. Anyway, I’m back after recuperating with yet more alcohol, sugary food and two days of solid retro video games to get back to blogging.
Anyway, as I’ve been out of the loop for a couple of weeks, I turned to an overflowing inbox for something to bring you guys and what a gem was waiting for me at the very top. “Trails and Ways” have put out this new song ahead of their full length release in June on Barsuk Records. If Barsuk sound familiar then it’s probably due to their role in unleashing Death Cab, back when they were still semi-shoegaze. Regardless this is dreamy synth indie stuff that will be golden for those into Yeasayer amongst others. Whilst I’m wary about the sudden synth obsession, often feeling that it hides a degree of mediocrity underneath an 80s blanket, this is definitely higher up on the pecking order. Inspired by acid dreams, which aren’t as fun as we all like to think from personal experience, “Trails and Ways” look set to become a summer soundtrack. Listen out for the second pre-release out on the 20th of April.
