Okay so this is a bit pop hit for me but I really can’t bring myself not to get into Donovan Woods, plus the sun is out and I really could do with some non-offensive cobweb summer tunes to make my walk from my dingy flat to the studio more entertaining. I first got into monsieur Woods watching him play Sask live and never really let myself get over that track. This is nothing like that level but a nice tune for a Monday morning. Keep your eyes peeled for some new Woods tracks in the following weeks. I should be doing more research but right now I’m ankle deep in academic shit storms.
Howdy. How’s it going? Ridiculous question really as this is a blog post and there’s no way you can respond and even if you did my email inbox would be full of details of what you did on a Friday. As lovely as that would be perhaps it would be better to ignore that question. I’m sharing Rhodes with you again, for what feels like the 11th time. Having seen him play back in October I’ve been well excited for the upcoming LP since he mentioned it between songs and dealing with a monumentally irritating drunk spectator. “Close Your Eyes” is the first track to drop from ahead of the new album and continues Rhodes’ tradition of epic sweeping soundscapes with pitch perfect vocals that carry you through the all-too-short track. Perfect for wetting the appetite ahead of the full LP release.
