Once again I’m back from an indefinite absence but don’t worry, so are Sylvan Esso. Back with the first track since their debut LP, “Radio” brings back that much-needed fix of female fronted witty electronica which is part of a staple musical diet. The track is not my usual cup of tea. Having said that, the wit present in the lyrical content and delivery has me sold. Particularly the line following the first chorus concerning how good someone looks sucking American dick which is, I regret to add, something I’m unfamiliar with.
The track is available to preorder on 12″ vinyl with “Kick Jump Twist” and is set to be released on the 18th of November by Lomo Vista/ Concord/ Caroline International.
Just browsing through to find some new music listening as nothing in my inbox is tickling my fancy and my old sources are probably a bit outdated lead me back to Stereogum, a site I’ve not really used in a while. It did however throw up the new video for Milk by WALL, a track off their debut EP released back in January that I completely missed as I was too busy spending money on beer.
Post-punk thumping with an almost spoken word lyrical over-tone plays into this almost catatonic like narrative. If you missed these guys check them out if you need to indulge your post-punk tickle.
Metric have just released the official video for “The Shade,” one of the singles of their forthcoming album “Pagans in Vegas” which sees release on 18th September on the bands own label MMI. I’ve always been crazy into Metric ever since they released Synthetica so I’m crazy excited for the new album. Saying this, the single did shoot under my haphazard radar and “The Shade” has actually been out on iTunes for months. Oops. Fortunately I will remedy this by almost certainly going to see them on their UK tour in Glasgow. You should come too and we can dance it off.
